Wet wet wet. It rained all day including between 2-4pm when we normally go out on Edgbaston St to pray for passers-by. On a rainy day, usually the pattern is that the rain stops between 2-4pm when we are out praying – not on Feb 6th! Despite of the wet, wind and cold we went out with plan A – We would put the chairs under cover and all would be well. No, it didn’t work. Plan B – half of the team would be out on the streets inviting folks to go inside the church for prayers. The other half of the team would be there to pray for them. It didn’t work either. Plan C – All 42 of us from the team took shelter in the church and we prayed for one another. It worked perfectly and we realised then how much we all benefited from such an encouragement from one another. Lent is here! Over the next 40 days, the children and young people of St Martin in the Bullring will be challenged to find new and different ways of meeting with God in their lives. In the past, people fasted and gave up eating luxury foods during Lent. It is still good to do that and no doubt most children and young people can think of some things that they could cut down on! But what about doing something extra? What about spending more time talking with God?
10th Feb-27th March 2016 Pathways to God Wednesday 17th February 2016 Wednesday February 17th Lent 2016 This year during Lent we are encouraging everyone to use the season to explore different ways of encountering the living God in Jesus Christ. Our services, sermon themes, and study courses have all been designed to help us do this and you are welcome to join in as much as you can. This is the first of our Pathways to God lent sessions. Each week there will be refresh-ments from 7pm. We then begin with worship and prayer together before going off to our different groups. Please make sure you attend the course you have signed up for! If after the first week you feel you want to change courses you can join a different one next week. But this is only possible this week. We hope you will stay with the group you have decided to join.
