Lent 2022

Lent is an important season of preparation for Easter, and for our personal, spiritual growth. We hope we can support you and resource you to make the most of this year’s season of Lent.

You will find attached to this post a leaflet setting out the history and purpose of Lent and giving details of our Lent worship and Lent groups. Printed copies are now available in church.

Ash Wednesday

There will be two services of holy communion – with the option to receive the imposition of ashes – at both 12.30pm and then again at 7pm. We really do hope you will be able to join us for one or the other service. Please do come and use the opportunity to start Lent with a purpose.

Lent Groups

The Lent groups are a great opportunity to meet with a small group of other church members to share in fellowship, bible study and prayer. Each week we will consider together the bible passage from Paul’s Letter to the Romans from the previous Sunday worship. (This will be an extension of our usual Growing Roots groups.)

There will be one group that meets in person in the church on Thursday afternoons; the other groups will meet in the evenings online via Zoom. Please do join us!

If you would like to join a group or to know more then do please speak to Rev Elsie Blair-Chappell or Rev Ivor Lewis.

If you are concerned about times and days then please do let us know.

10 March: No excuse for not knowing God – Romans 1 v16-23

17 March: God’s law is written in our hearts – Romans 2 v13-23

    Hello,

I moved to Birmingham 3 years ago to study, however whem covid hit I didn’t get much oppertunity to secure friendships or be part of a community. I’m looking to join a community and make friends in the church. Does St martins hold coffee morning after services? Or other meetings I might be interested in.

    Many thanks
    Bryony

Hello Bryony, we have just started serving coffee again after the 11am service on Sundays. You might also be interested in the Ladies Fellowship which is held once a month on Saturday mornings. We serve hot drinks and toast at these meetings. The next one will be on Saturday 14th May. This Sunday the Easter Day service will be at a slightly earlier time of 10.30am with Easter Egg hunting afterwards.

I hope this information is helpful and you feel able to come along to one of these events. It would be lovely to meet you.
